Mangalore, Jan 12: “The cheap words spoken by Deve Gowda, the former prime minister of India, are totally against his personality,” said MLA Yogesh Bhat during a protest organized by the BJP against Deve Gowda in front of the DC Office on Jan 11, Monday.

MP Nalin Kumar said that, owing to his statements, Deve Gowda has lost his reputation. He also said that, since Gowda is now 60, he ought to retire from politics. He has not insulted the CM alone, but also the people who voted for him.

Mayor Shankar Bhat said that Deve Gowda had received the post of prime minister by accident and that he had done nothing worthwhile during his brief rule.

Padmanabha Kottari said that CM Yeddyurappa has achieved more than any other CM who had preceded him. He also said that the current state government has given benefits to farmers that former CMs could not. Deve Gowda’s cheap behavior is condemnable, he said.

The protestors later made a bonfire of placards bearing Deve Gowda’s name.

Srikar Prabhu, the president of BJP Mangalore South Constituency; Monappa Bhandary, the former president of BJP district unit; Jayaram Shetty; and Ashajyothi were present during the protest.
