BJP Dakshina Kannada stages protest against MRPL

Mangalore, Jan 22: The Dakshina Kannada unit of BJP staged a protest against MRPL in front of Cargo Gate MRPL for neglecting to invite elected representatives to significant MRPL programmes. BJP members in large numbers participated in the protest. Allegedly, MRPL failed to invite Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa to its recent foundation stone laying ceremony

Members of BJP closed all the 5 gates of MRPL, alleging that MRPL practices anti-people policies. Monappa Bhandary, the former president of BJP Dakshina Kannada, made a speech in which he said that MRPL has never been interested in the welfare of the district. On the contrary, the company’s activities have only polluted the environment. Many families in DK had lost their valuable land to MRPL because they were too helpless to fight the company. Moreover, the company is not giving jobs to engineers educated in the engineering colleges of Karnataka. Only those who have studied in north Indian colleges are getting jobs in this company, he alleged. 

Bala Krishna Bhat, the former MLC, said that MRPL has failed to honor elected representatives. The company does even have the basic courtesy to invite elected representatives to its significant programmes. The company invites congress leaders who are not in any prominent positions, but forgets to invite local BJP MPs and MLAs. 

The company has also shown that it is anti district by giving permanent jobs to north Indians, but only contract positions to the local people. Although it is based in the district and pollutes the district, it does not work for the welfare of the people of the district, he alleged. 

The protestors warned the company not to repeat its mistakes.
