Bantwal, July 29, 2014:  Reports state, at least  25 statues of demigods and pooja materials have been unearthed in a field at Kadavina Bagilu adjacent to Bantwal-Kadur highway on July 28.

One  Mavinakatte Ravi purchased the land recently  and  labourers unearthed the statue when they were digging the land for planting.  It was said that the land ib the past belonged to  a Jain family earlier. In acordance with the land reforms act, the land was given to a member of a SC community, who later sold it to one Puttumonu, who could not cultivate the land, he recently sold the land to Ravi.

In fact, it is believed that the land were statues were unearthed was the Bhandara house of Nalkethaya Daiva.The thatched bhandara house would have been washed away in the flood and the statues could have got buried in the soil. Officials have visited the spot for an inspection.
