’Rapid response ambulance’ at Wenlock on the cards

Mangaluru, Dec 6, 2016: District surgeon and medical superintendent of the hospital Dr H R Rajeshwari Devi told Food and Civil Supplies Minister U T Khader on Monday that the ambulance purchased with available Rs nine lakh has been equipped with advanced facilities with the funding of Rs six lakh by Mangalore Medical Relief Society, an NGO headed by Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari D Veerendra Heggade.   Government Wenlock Hospital in the city will soon it equipped with advanced life support system.

The ambulance, in its interiors, will have facilities like portable ventilator, defibrillator, monitor among other facilities. The ambulance will be named ’Wenlock Ambulance for Rapid Response Services (Warrs)’. Besides, there are a slew of facilities that will be dedicated soon like, renovated jail ward, Jana Sanjeevini Drug Store (though already functioning) and MRI unit.

Dr Sadashiv, District project management officer, Karnataka Health System Development and Reforms Project (KHSDRP), said, "Evening clinics have been proposed at four urban health centres in the city. They will be functioning with manpower support from private medical colleges-one doctor and two nurses. "The centres at Shaktinagar and Kuloor will be manned by A J Medical College and Research Institute, while at Bunder, Yenepoya will be managing it. The centre at Yekkur will be supervised by K S Hegde Medical Academy (Kshema)."

The centres will function from 4.30 pm to 7.30 pm to cater to the needs of the patients. That apart, nine health kiosks have been planned-five in Mangaluru city and four at Ullal, he added.
