’Mangaluru Angels’ a boost to entrepreneurship

Mangaluru, Feb 212, 2015: In a bid to create an ecosystem for local entrepreneurs in Namma Kudla / Mangaluru region, corporate  leader TV Mohandas Pai has mooted  setting up of ’Mangaluru Angels’ .

This fund, Pai says, will encourage local business men, irrespective of caste/creed, to start entrepreneurial units in their hometown rather than go to Bengaluru or Mysuru. This will encourage start ups to build a base locally and go global with time.


Delegating the responsibility of leading  the set up of this project to banker Sandeep Shenoy, Pai told STOI it’s high time a community of start ups emerges in the coastal city. " We will get investor, support budding entrepreneurs with mentors, and turn their entrepreneurial dreams real," he said. Entrepreneurs may fail with business ideas but they should start taking risks, he said. The project will encourage entrepreneurs to meet and create business models. It will have facilities and support to nurture their dream, he said, adding products within the project  will be marketed as well. The idea is to ensure India’s next billion dollar company comes from a Tier II city.
