’Kadala Parba’ illustrates colorful Karavali culture

Mangalore Dec. 3: The Dakshina Kannada Mogaveera Yuva Vedike will organize Kadala Parba at Chitrapura Beach, Kulai, on Dec 6, Sunday, at 9:30 a.m. 

The Dharmadhikari of Sri Dharmasthala Dr. D Veerendra Heggade will inaugurate the event in a traditional manner by making an offering of milk to the sea. A grand procession, commencing at Chitrapura Bus Stop at 8:30 a.m., will welcome Dr. D Veerendra Heggade.

Krishna J Palemar, the district in-charge minister; Ajit G Suvarna, the president of Mogaveera Management Association; and V Ponnuraj, the deputy commissioner, will participate in the event. 

MP Nalin Kumar Kateel; Pramod Madhwaraj, the president of Mogaveera Mahajana Sangha, Ucchila; Yashpal Suvarna, the president of the Fish Sellers’ Federation, Dakshina Kannada and Udupi Districts; and Mayor Shankar Bhat are the chief guests of the valedictory function, which will be organized at 6:30 p.m. 

Kadala Parbha will include a variety of competitions such as fishing, boating, swimming, tug-of-war, and so on. The entire event is based on the sea and beach theme. All the beach-based sports competitions will be clubbed under the title “Kadala Baritha Gobbulu.” The centerpiece of the event is a cultural programme based on the life of Rani Abbakka. 

Madhava Suvarna of the reception committee of Kadala Parbha; Yathish Baikampaday; Shobendra Sasihitlu, the president of the Mogaveera Yuva Vedike; and Santhosh Kumar Hosabettu, the joint secretary of the Mogaveera Yuva Vedike, were also present at the press conference.
