Mangalore, July 28: Heavy rainfall and landslides on the Nivsar – Adavali stretch of the Konkan Railway has resulted in the disruption of train services along that route, owing to which the Konkani Railway has opened a 3-line MTNL enquiry telephone number 022 – 10722, which can be accessed via landlines and mobile phones.
A press release from the Southern Railway stated that some trains have been cancelled / diverted on Tuesday because of damaged tracks at the Nivasar station. The cancelled trains were 2620 Mangalore Central Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Matsyagandha express and 2619 Lokmanya Tilak Terminus - Mangalore Central Matsyagandha express.
Train 2618 Nizamuddin Ernakulam Mangala Express which left Nizamuddin on Monday was diverted via Kalyan, Pune, Londa and Madgoan. Train 2997 Tirunelveli-Ex Hapa which left Tirunelveli on Monday was diverted via Madgoan, Londa, Pune and Kalyan. Train No.2617 Ernakulam Nizamuddin Mangala Express which left Ernakulam on Monday was diverted via Madgoan, Londa, Pune and Kalyan. Train 2288 Deharadun-Kochuveli Express which left Deharadun on Monday has been diverted via Panvel, Pune, Miraj, Londa and Madgoan.
On Monday, 11 trains were cancelled and four trains were diverted as a result of the incident. KR5/KR6 Diva Sawantwadi Passenger Train will run between DivaRatnagiri Diva and will be cancelled between Ratnagiri Sawantwadi Ratnagiri; 0103 Dn CSTM-Madgaon Mandovi Express; 0104 Up Madgaon-CSTM Mandovi Express; 0111 Dn CSTM Madgaon Konkankanya Express; 0112 Up Madgaon CSTM Konkankanya Express; 2051 Dn CSTM Madgaon Jan Shatabdi Express; 2052 Up Madgaon-CSTM Jan Shatabdi Express; 2619 Dn LT(T)-Mangalore Matsyagandha Express ; 2620 Up Mangalore LT(T) Matsyagandha Express; KR8/KR7 Madgaon-Sawantwadi Passenger Train and 2134 Up Karwar CSTM Express.
According to the release, disrupted train services might be delayed and therefore the public must contact 022 – 10722 to get the correct information regarding the position and status of the trains.
