Krishna J Palemar, the district-in-charge minister, inaugurated the fair. In his inaugural speech, he lauded the efforts of companies such as Diya Systems for creating job opportunities for the local people. The large companies that have been established in Mangalore have only created problems for the local people, and not job opportunities, he alleged. He said that, out of the 15,000 candidates who applied to the government for jobs, only 2,500 have been recruited and 4000 are under training.

Dr V Ravichandran, the CEO of Diya Systems, said in his address that the purpose of this job fair is to present job opportunities to the economically backward and rural youth. He also spoke about the possibility of providing jobs to all. He said that training facilities will be made available to the youth who do not land up with any employment at the District Employment Exchange.

Shri S D Basavaraju, employment officer of the District Employment Exchange; MLA Yogish Bhat; MLA U T Khader; MLC Capt Ganesh Karnik; Major B Vijay Kumar, principal of KPT; Prabhakar Sharma, B Nagaraj Shetty, the chairman of the Coastal Area of Development Authority, were also present on the occasion.
