Mangalorean Janice wins scholarship worth US$100k

Janice1 Mangalore, July 13: Janice Shainy D’Souza of Mangalore who had done her pre-university course in St. Aloysius Pre-university College Mangalore has received a scholarship worth US$100,000 to do a 4-year undergraduate course at Berea College in Kentucky, USA. She is the daughter of Vincent and Margaret D’Souza.


Janice was one of the 30 international students who got selected for the scholarship out of the 1000 who had applied for it. She scored the highest marks in the pre-university board exams and bagged prizes in several inter-collegiate competitions. She is also a volunteer for an NGO called Make a Difference (MAD). She was not only the vice president of public relations in Mangalore, but is also involved in charity work and teaches English to under-privileged children in ashrams.


Janice will study psychology and international relations at the undergraduate level and plans to answer the civil service examinations when she returns to India.
