Mangaluru, Sep 14, 2018: At the general body meeting of taluk panchayat, the tahsildar said that the Rs 50 fee is being collected for issue of new cards and to add names to the card.

The money is deposited in a separate account, and the amount can be used for development purposes.  Tahsildar Pradeep Kurdekar said that fee collected in the process of making ration cards and the inclusion of names in ration cards can be used for the development works taken up at the respective gram panchayats.

A member Mr D’Souza alleged that the water pipelines were damaged as they were laid deep under the mud in Mudrangadi gram panchayat area. The argument over the issue between D’Souza and Mudrangadi gram panchayat president David forced the president Nalini Pradeep Kumar to intervene and assure to take up a spot inspection.

Majuru GP president Sandeep alleged that the repeated pleas from the affected families to the Indian Strategic Petroleum Reserves Limited (ISPRL), seeking compensation for the damage caused, by indiscriminate blasting, to their houses, have failed to elicit any response so far.

The tahsildar said that the deputy commissioner has written to the company officials in this regard.

Members alleged that the data entry work at Bapuji Seva Kendra is creating a problem as there is no staff to carryout the work, hence causing a delay in the work. There is acute shortage of staff. Executive officer Mohan Raj said that data entry operators have filed a case in the court. Hence, the process to appoint operators has been stalled. Following the demand by the members, a detailed information on Arogya Karnataka was made available. The patients would be treated in two different categories, said, officer Sachidananda. The patients with BPL cards and the patients without the cards will be treated albeit with different rate packages. The patients without the cards should bear 30% of the treatment package cost. The patients can also avail the benefits by using the Aadhar cards if they have no BPL or APL cards for identity, he added.

The TP president said that the action plan for various development projects can be finalised by January owing to the scarcity of sand problem.

The other issues discussed on the occasion include the sand scarcity and sea erosion among others.
