Bantwal, August 14, 2018: The heavy rain that has been lashing the region since the past few days has led to a spate in Netravathi with the river flowing well above the danger mark, at 9.3 meters.

As  all the  gates of the  Shambhoor dam have been  opened to release water, several areas have submerged.  Low lying areas are the worst hit.  All the  gates of the Tumbay vented dam too have been opened after maintaining the water level at 5 meters.

In Jakribettu, a road providing a link to Bantwal town has  been submerged affecting vehicular traffic. Water logging and flooding is also reported  behind the Ajilamogaru mosque in Sarapady GP limits. Water has entered the ground floor of the mosque. The situation is similar in Aladka. People in the area have been shifted to safer locations.

MLA visits affected area: Bantwal MLA  Ulipadiguttu Rajesh Naik visited several areas in Bantwal which have been affected by floods and took stock of the situation. He also interacted with the locals and assured all possible assistance to the affected people.
