ZP president urges officials to work for progress

Mangalore, Sep 14, 2011 : K. T. Shailaja Bhat, the president of the ZP, has requested all the ZP officials to work for the district’s progress. She was speaking at the monthly meeting held to review the progress of Karnataka development schemes on Monday. She urged the concerned officials to identify beneficiaries and to ensure that they receive all the benefits provided by the government.

 

zpShe also said that a job fair will be organized at the TMA Pai Convention Centre on September 24 – 25 and urged all the officials to make it successful.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. K. N. Vijayaprakash, the CEO of the ZP, said that citizens should give up a small portion of their land for future road widening while constructing buildings and houses.

Elaborating on the issue, Eshwar Kateel, the president of the standing committee, said that awareness must be created among rural people because they violate rules while constructing compound walls, houses, and buildings. He also said that people hardly seek the permission of the Panchayat while constructing compound walls even though the rules say that they ought to take permission. He said that people illegally acquire roads to construct compound walls in rural areas.

The CEO also instructed the executive officers of the Taluk Panchayat to furnish details of people who do not have sites under the Ambedkar Housing and Ashraya schemes.

Shivarame Gowda, the deputy secretary of the ZP, said that the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme has not yet been implemented in 32 GPs in Dakshina Kannada district.
