Mangalore Feb 12, 2016: Deputy Commissioner A.B. Ibrahim has informed that a total of 1,166 polling booths would be set up across the district for the upcoming Zilla Panchayat and Taluk Panchayat elections.
Speaking to the Press at his office here on February 12, Friday, the Deputy Commissioner said four observors have been appointed for Mangaluru and Bantwal Sub-Division. Elect ions will be held for a total of 36 Zilla Panchayat seats and 136 Taluk Panchayat seats, he informed.
He said simultaneous training programmes for Presiding Officers and Assistant Presiding Officers will be held on Febr uary 13, Saturday. Campaigning will draw to be a close on February 18 at 7 am, he informed.
Basavaraj, Election Observor who was present requested all party leaders to co-operate with the administration in the smooth conduct of the elections.
He also informed that indelible ink would be marked on the right hand thumb of the voters who have exercised their franchise.
