ZP Chief warns action against GPs for not reserving funds for welfare of disabled

Mangalore, Feb 25, 2014: Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat President Koragappa Naik has directed  the Zilla Panchayat ZEO  Tulasi Maddineni  to initiate action against  gram panchayats for  not reserving three per cent grants for disabled  and for furnishing false information in this regard. He said most of the panchayats have flouted the rules.

The ZP Chief was presiding over the monthly KDP meeting held at the Netravathi Auditorium of Zilla Panchayat on February 24, Monday. He also took the Panchayat Development Officers and Taluk Panchayat Executive Officers to task for not being diligent and urged them to serve with a commitment to achieve development.

The ZP Chief further directed the officials of the Department of Sports and Youth Empowerment as well as the Department of Public Instructions to ensure  proper facilities to student selected for national level sports events instead of just shrugging off their responsibilities once the students are selected from the district.

ZP Vice President Rithesh Shetty who also spoke said there were complaints that the staff of Akshara Dasoha and Ksheera Bhagya schemes have not been provided wages since three months.

Manjula, Akshara Dasoha Officer who reacted to this complaint, said  the  grants towards wages has already been released to the Taluk Panchayats and that the same would be disbursed to the staff within another week’s time.
