Young woman arrested for suspected IS links, produced before court in Kasargod

Kasargod, Aug 6,2016 :   A Patna resident young woman named Yasmin Ahmed Sahid (29) who was arrested  from the Indira Gandhi International Airport  on July 31 while she was planning to leave for Kabul,  for her suspected links with ISIS, and was subsequently lodged in the  Kannur Central Jail  was produced before the court here on August 8 amid high security.

She is suspected to be involved in the case of the  missing of 17 people from Trikkaripura-Padanna who  are believed to have joined ISIS. It is said Yasmin was the second wife of Trikkaripura resident Abdul Rasheed (32) who is also believed to have links with ISIS.  It was also the second marriage for Yasmin who had deserted her first husband.

Though Abdul Rasheed too was missing since May, he was said to be in touch with Yasmin who was reportedly working as a teacher at a school in Malappuram. Police while arresting Yasmin had reportedly recovered the ATM card of Rasheed’s first wife Ayesha which was in possession of her. The police had also seized Rs 70,000 cash,  620 US dollars and two passports from her.

As part of the investigation, police have been taking  Yasmin to several places in Kasargod.
