Yettinahole campaign, ratha yatra, December 3 to 5

Mangaluru, Nov 29, 2016: It is reported that a ratha yatra, which will cover all the constituencies in Dakshina Kannada district between December 3 and 5, will be led by BJP MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, Congress leader K Vijay Kumar Shetty and others to demand the government to drop Yettinahole project. MP, Nalin Kumar Kateel said the water collected in a kalasha will be placed on a chariot, which Sullia MLA S Angara will flag off on December 3. Water from Kumaradhara will be collected in a ’kalasha’ and the ratha yatra will commence journey from Kukke Subrahmanya Temple premises on December 3.

"The chariot will move to Uppinangady Sahasralingeshwara Temple, Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Manjunatha Temple, Polali Rajarajeshwari Temple, Pavanje Jnanashakti Subrahmanya Temple, Bappanadu Sri Durgaparameshwari Temple and culminate at Kadri Sri Manjunatha Temple. During the ratha yatra, water from Sangama Kshetra, Nethravathi, Phalguni, Shambhavi and Nandini rivers will be added to the Kalasha after offering prayers. The ratha yatra’s main objective is to protect the natural resources like rivers and fertile land in Tulunadu," MP Kateel said.
 
Public programmes will be held at Subrahmanya, Nelyadi, Kokkada, Ujire, Kalladka, B C Road, Farangipete, Surathkal, Mulki and Kadri as part of the rathayatra. A valedictory ceremony will be held at Kadri Temple at 8.30am on December 5. Leaders from all religions and political parties will be invited to the yatra, he said adding that former MLA Vijay Kumar Shetty and Vishwa Hindu Parishat leader M B Puranik will be the honorary presidents of the ratha yatra committee.
