Yeddyurappa visits Kavoor police station; demands suspension of SI

Mangalore, Oct 18, 2014: BJP leader and former chief minister BS Yeddyurappa  visited Kavoor Police Station on October 18, Saturday and met DCP (Crime) Vishnuvardhan to discuss the   case of alleged assault on Bhajrangdal activist Charan by the Kavoor SI Umesh Kumar.

The activists also enacted a street play highlighting the atrocities of the police in Kavoor.


The former CM also met the  activists of the VHP and the Bhajrangdal who are protesting outside the police station demanding suspension of the SI and assured to help them in the cause.

Later speaking to reporters, Yeddyurappa said he would also  speak to the Director General of Police in Bangalore in connection with the case and would seek action  against the ‘erring’ police officer.

Meanwhile, VHP leader Jagadish Shenava said the protest will continue until the demand was heeded to. He further said they do not want the transfer of the SI but his suspension. He also threatened to resort to a bundh in the Kavoor area on October 20, Monday if the demand was not fulfilled.
