Mangaluru, Aug 5, 2015 : Senior Congress leader B Janardhana Poojary has questioned the silence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi with regard to the several scams that rocked the nation in the recent past.
Speaking to reporters at the District Congress Office on August 5, Wednesday, Poojary also ridiculed Modi for his comments that the Parliament was incurring losses to the tune of Rs 10 crore to Rs 15 crore due to disruptions caused by the Opposition.
This amount is nothing when compared to the huge losses which the nation has incurred due to the various scams, Poojary said.
Terming corruption as a cancer that has afflicted the society, Poojary said the nation can progress only when it becomes free from corruption.
Referring to the Vyapam scam, he said thousands and thousands have been affected and many accused and witnesses have died under suspicious circumstances. Corruption has made inroads in all spheres of administration, he said.
He also referred to Modi’s promise to eradicate corruption and added that there is no effort to fulfil the same.
Referring to farmers’ suicides, he questioned why the Union Government could not think of providing a separate package for Karnataka. He also accused MP and former CM Yeddyurappa of failing to raise the issue with the Centre.
Former mayor Mahabala Maarla, Congress leaders Harikrishna Bantwal, Suresh Ballal and others were present.
