Yakshagana artiste Sudhakar Thumbe receives Yaksha Siri Award

Bantwal Oct 22, 2012 : Sudhakar Thumbe, convener of Dubai Yakshamitraru Balaga and noted Yakshagana artiste, received the Yaksha Siri Award at the Yakshaloka Cultural Convention held on the premises of Annapurneshwari Nagadeva Temple on Oct 19, Friday. Circle Inspector Anil S. Kulkarni presented this award.

 

Sudhakar Thumbe, co-founder of Billawa Balaga Dubai, is very popular in UAE because of his social work and his involvement in several associations.

The Yakshaloka Sanskrithi Sangama instituted this award.

Speaking after inaugurating this award, Pushparaj Shetty, secretary of the Annapurneshwari Nagadeva Temple Administrative Trust, said that Yakshaloka is doing a lot of good work in training budding Yakshagana artistes and giving them opportunities.

Among those present were Jithendra S. Kottari, chief promoter of the district Vishwa Hindu Parishad; Sarapadi Ashok Shetty, member of the Karnataka Yakshagana Bayalata Academy; Mounesh Vishwakarma, president of the Bantwal Taluk Working Journalists’ Association; and others.

A cultural event, including skits, music, dance, and Yakshagana, formed the highlight of the event.
