Yaksha Manjusha to spread Yakshagana in the US

Mangalore, July 2, 2014: For the third time, ’Yaksha Manjusha’ a yakshagana troupe which has given performance in more than 300 places across 19 nations, is all set to tour US, headed by Vidya Kolyur.

Addressing a press meet on Wednesday Vidya Kolyur said, the troupe will perform yakshagana in Maryland, Washington, Edison, Richmond, Atlanta, Dallas, Austin, Phoenix, San Jose and Indian embassy as well including University of Maryland Baltimore County and University of North Carolina. Important on this tour will be Yakshagana training and performance by 115 students in Virginia.

 

Training currently being provided to 54 students at Chinmaya Mission, Maryland is to end on July 18. Troupe consists of Patla Sathish Shetty as bhagawatha, with Padmanabha Upadhya on the maddale, Beluvai Devanand Bhat on chende as accompanying artist.

Vidya Kolyur, Harinarayana Edaneeru, Mohan Bellippady, Prashanth Shetty Nelyady, Rakesh Rai Adka, Arun and Saravu Krishna Bhat will be the performing artists in the troupe that will return to India on September 11.
