London, Mar 12, 2015 : A Tenkutittu style Yakshagana “Shree Krishna Parijatha-Narakasura Moksha” presented by Vidya Kolyur led Yaksha Manjusha at the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan in London recently left the gathering  of Indians and foreigners spell bound.

 

 

 

The organisers strongly believed that the theme of the Yakshagana was best suited to bring mythology back to stage while also take the audience to a mythological world.

 If every  artiste did justice to his role superbly, even the  Bhagavathike by Patla Satish Shetty  added grace and charm  to the entire presentation. As Maddale  was the sole background at several  sequences of this Yakshagana prasanga, the efforts of Padmanabha Upadhaya on the Maddale too were successful.As for the rest  Beluvai Devananda Bhat on Chende too   contributed to the success of the presentation.

 Chandrashekhar Dharmasthala  playing the role of Lord Krishna and Arun Jarkala as his Sakha  gave a  sterling  performance, while Prashanth Shetty Nelyadi as Sakhi also put up a good show.

Mohan Bellippadi had donned the role of demon Narakasura, while Rakesh Rai, an upcoming artiste played the twin role as Narada and Devendra, Director Vidya Kolyur as Satyabhama also won the appreciation of the gathering.

The show was sponsored by Infosys Foundation and Sudha Murthi, its Chief had herself arrived to witness the show adding to the enthusiasm of the artistes.  Even non-Kannadigas enjoyed the show as sub-titles  could be  seen on a  screen in one corner of the stage.

After the show, the team also received invitations to present shows in various places.

Another successful presentation of Yaksha Manjusha in this London tour was a demonstration of  Abhimanyu-Subhadreya Veera Karuna Rasa for students of Swami Narayana School of London. Vidya Kolyur as Subhadre and Chandrashekhar Dharmasthala as Abimanyu presented a mind blowing performance well appreciated by the students as well as the teachers.

The presentations by Yaksha Manjusha in London is being described as a  big achievement in the history of Tenkutittu Yakshagana.
