Mangalore, Apr 28, 2012: World Veterinary Day 2012 was jointly observed at Hotel Deepa Comfort on April 28 Saturday by the DK Zilla Panchayat, the Karnataka Veterinary Council, the Karnataka State Government Veterinarians Association, the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services, and the Karnataka Veterinary Association.

Inaugurating the event, Dr. K. N. Vijayprakash, the CEO of ZP, said that people are too busy to bother about animal welfare these days. Speaking about the past, he said that people used to keep water outside their houses so that thirsty animals could have a drink. They would also sprinkle some sugar on the ground for the ants, but these acts of kindness towards animals can be seen no more, he said.
