World Special Olympics, 4 from city set to participante

Mangaluru, Mar 01, 2019: Ausley D’Souza, son of Jeevan D’Souza and Stella D’Souza, Abhilash, son of Bhaskar Poojary and Gulabi, Prajwal Lobo, son of Valarian Lobo and N Kavitha Lobo, will be representing the country in the powerlifting event.

Nizamuddin has been selected for the football team. Ausley D’Souza of St Agnes Special School, had won the gold at the state-level powerlifting competition organised in Mandya and three gold at the national-level event held in Kolhapur. After attending as many as three selection camps conducted in 2018, Ausley D’Souza was finally selected to represent the country.

Abhilash of Sanidhya School won three gold medals at the state-level powerlifting competition organised in Mandya and one gold medal at the national-level event held at Kolhapur. Based on his performance he was declared eligible to participate in the International Special Olympics.

Prajwal Lobo of Sanidhya School won three gold medals at the state-level powerlifting competition organised in Mandya and one gold, two silver medals at the national-level event held in Kolhapur. Nizamuddin of St Agnes Special School was trained by Narayan Sherigar.

Premnath Ullal, who had coached the special students in a record period, was confident that his boys will win medals at the event. Vasanth Shetty said the special students will be travelling from Mangaluru soon to participate in a training camp for the members of the Olympic team in New Delhi.

Narayan Sherigar, serving as coach at St Agnes Special School, urged corporates to encourage special children representing Mangaluru for the first time at the Olympics. Principal of St Agnes Special School Sr Shruthi was also present.
