Here it is worth mentioning that a report of Socio Economic Survey of Kudubis of Karnataka  published by the World Institute of Konkani language has revealed  that less than 3.5 per cent of Kudubis read newspapers and that their level of awareness was very less.

The book in Kannada script is authored by 24 year old Surya Naik Kalmane, a mason by profession who hails from Nalkur in Udupi district. Presently doing his B.Com through correspondence, he had earlier presened a  play ‘Vaag Devachi Katha’ (Story of the Tiger God) based on a folk tale. This time he decided to bring out another folk tale in the form of a book  after consultations with senior members of the community.

The new book “Tiger and the Girl” is about a  girl  who is lost in the forest, meets a tiger who wants to marry her and the way the girl managed to trick the tiger which eventually takes her back to her village.
