World Jesuit Convention at Ohio USA, Mangaluru scholar to attend

Mangaluru, June 24,2017:  Reports state that a well known city Social Entrepreneur and a philanthropist Prof Edmund Frank, is to be a member of a delegation attending the International Convention of World Jesuit Alumni (WUJA), to be held in Cleveland, Ohio, USA from June 28 to July 2. He is the only one from Karnataka in the delegation from India.


Jesuit AlumniWUJA is held once in three years to discuss important issues related to Jesuit Education, pass resolutions and prepare a blueprint for future action.


The topics to be discussed this year include -- Social Entrepreneurship, Science , Technology and Medicine, Global Networking, Global Business Ethics, Criminal Justice Reforms, Issues related to Death Penalty, Immigration and Legal Implications, Jurisprudential Perspectives including Social Justice, Future challenges of Jesuit Education and Where will the Society of Jesus be in 2050. Appropriate resolutions in all these topics will be adopted at the closing session.


Frank is a distinguished alumni of three Jesuit Colleges -- St Aloysius College, Mangaluru, Loyola College, Chennai and St Xavier’s College, Mumbai.


With two decades of service at management positions in Mumbai and abroad, he came back to Mangaluru in 1994 and from 1996 to date is associated with St Aloysius College as Professor and dean in the PGDBM Department. He has written and published four books on Business and Industry Management, which are used as text books by the Commerce and Business Management Students both at the UG and PG levels.


Frank has made substantial donations to various causes through the Sylvester and Tressy Frank Foundation-- this includes ten homes for the homeless, over 220 educational support scholarships, financial support to educational institutions in rural areas, orphanages and Homes for the children of prisoners and Rehabilitation Centres for HIV+ children and women. He is on the Governing Boards of a number of Professional Colleges also an active member of the PMI - Prison Ministry India and many other Social service Organisations.
