Woman robbed of jewellery and cash on Nethravathi Express

Kasargod, Apr 28, 2012 : A woman passenger of the Mumbai to Thiruvananthapuram Nethravathi Express was robbed of her cash and 38 sovereigns of gold jewellery on April 27 Friday.


netravathi 1Prathima of Hosdurg near Kanhangad, who lives in Thane in Mumbai, was robbed of Rs. 8000 and 38 sovereigns of gold jewellery. She was travelling from Mumbai to Hosadurg by the Mumbai to Thiruvananthapuram Nethravathi Express with her children Chethan (15) and Anushka (9) on April 26 Thursday. She had gone to sleep after dinner and was woken up by noises near her seat.

She later discovered that someone had ripped open her bag and stolen the cash and jewellery she had kept there. She immediately reported the theft to the Railway Protection Force (RPF), which conducted a thorough search, but found nothing but a piece of paper smelling of drugs near her seat. Police feel that the thief must have knocked her unconscious with the drug before robbing her.
