Kasargod, Jul 04, 2018 : The District Additional Sessions Court has sentenced a young woman to life imprisonment for killing the second wife of her husband. The victim was seven months pregnant when she was killed. The convict Misriya (27) has also been slapped a penalty of Rs 50,000 by the court. She will have to undergo an additional three years of imprisonment if she failed to pay the fine amount.
The incident had occurred on the morning of August 7, 2011. Misriya who is the first wife of Abdul Rehman of Kannambatti in Uppala had set afire her husband and his second wife Nafisat when they were sleeping. Though both of them had sustained serious injuries, Nafisat had later succumbed to her injuries.
Misriya who has two children from Abdul Rehman was deserted by the latter when he married Nafisat. This had enraged Misriya who wanted to kill both of them.
There were a total of 34 witnesses in this case. The accused was arrested and charge sheeted by the then Kumble Circle Inspector U Preman.
