Woman elopes with lover ; fools family with suicide drama

Uppinangady, Nov 29 2017: An incident wherein a  married woman who had eloped with her lover to  Kodagu fooled her family members  through a suicide drama has been reported from here.

It is said the woman from Sarve near Puttur  had   eloped with  her lover on Monday  but later telephoned her family members to state that she was on the banks of River Netravathi  and that she would end her life by consuming poison as they had not allowed her to marry the man of her choice.

Worried over this development, the family members who feared that their honour would be at stake if a police complaint was lodged had launched a search for the woman in Netravathi and Kumaradhara rivers  with the help of some youth. It is learnt that later the woman did not receive calls even though her phone was ringing,  further adding to the tension.

Finally, the family sought the help of the police who tracked the mobile phone to Madhapura in Somwarapete taluk of Kodagu district, making it clear that the  girl had fooled everyone.
