Woman arrested for burning alive her 12 day old baby girl

Bhatkal, Mar 13, 2018: The Bhatkal Police have arrested a woman named Yashoda for burning alive her 12 day old baby girl at her parental home at Vengtapur. It is believed that  her husband and her parents had refrained from visiting her after delivery, reportedly unhappy that she had given birth to a baby girl.

Sources said  the attitude of her parents remained unchanged even after she returned home with the baby. A totally depressed Yashoda   poured oil over the baby and set it on fire. Hearing the baby’s cries the family members rushed to the spot and admitted the baby to Manipal Hospital where  the infant died on March 12.

Yashoda was married to Gopal three years ago and the couple was residing in a rented house at Bhatkal. It is said her Gopal was away fishing when the incident took place.
