Woman arrested for assaulting father-in-law

Mangaluru, Mar 12, 2024: A woman has been arrested for brutally assaulting her elderly father-in-law at her residence near Kulshekhar. The accused woman is Umashankeri, a MESCOM officer.

The seriously injured elderly man Padmanabha Suvarna (87) has been hospitalized.

 

The incident reportedly took place on March 9. Umashankeri’s husband worked abroad. The incident came to light when he checked the CCTV footage. The footage shows Umashankeri  hitting her father-in-law with a walking stick and also abusing him.

A case has been registered based on the basis of a  complaint by Suvarna’s daughter Priya.
