She  alleged that the  SI and constable  pressurised them to  end the case  in a compromise. " They attacked my brother and  behaved rudely with me and also threatened me when we disagreed," she said.

She said though she met the Udupi SP and apprised him of the matter, he too had backed the  police personnel. She also informed that she later  submitted a memorandum to the IGP  with the help of Human Rights Universal Foundation. She informed that the IGP has assured to look into the case.

Jayashree Bhat, President of Udupi district women’s wing of Human Rights Universal Foundation,  Sajini Vijaya, Secretary of DK unit of the Foundation  and others were present at the press meet and said the fight for justice in the case would continue.

SP Annamalai SP clarifies: In the backdrop of allegations against Brahmavar cops and also  against  him that he had backed the accused cops, Udupi SP Annamalai  has issued a clarification wherein  he stated that the woman had  messaged him on May 25  following which he had directed her to approach the Brahmavar Police Station. However the woman stating that she feared to go there  later messaged him that she had lodged a complaint at Kota  police station.

The SP said he has already received a report regarding the case from Brahmavar Inspector and that a notice has been served  to the SI and the constable as to why  they did not behave  properly with a woman.

"The woman had approached me with  some members of human rights organisation  seeking to register rape case against the police officer," the SP said adding as at the outset  it did not look like a rape case, he told her that it was not possible.

The SP also clarified that there has been no discrimination or favouritism.
