Woman accused of fleecing husband of Rs 50 lakhs by colluding with father and friend

Mangaluru, Nov 30 2018: A shocking incident wherein a woman had threatened her husband working abroad and had placed a demand for Rs one crore has come to light.

The father of the woman who was also complicit in the case  now stands arrested. The accused woman has been identified as Ambika Nayak alias Ambika Prabhu of Ananthnagar in Manipal. Her father K Vasudev Prabhu has been arrested by the Ullal Police based on a complaint by Ambika’s husband Ganesh Nayak and a warrant by the court.

Meanwhile, Ambika and her friend B Manjunath from Mandya are absconding and the police have launched a manhunt to nab the two.

The victim Ganesh Nayak hails from Thokkottu Kumpala. His wife  had already succeeded in fleecing him of Rs 50 lakhs by threatening to kill him, through her friend Manjunath.  Not satisfied with the Rs 50 lakhs she used to pester Ganesh for more money through Manjunath who made repeated calls. Finally, fed up of all this Ganesh had lodged a complaint with the Ullal Police against Ambika Nayak (42), her father K Vasudev Prabhu (70) and  Ambika’s friend Manjunath (32).

It is learnt of the Rs 50 lakhs received from Ganesh, Rs 25 lakhs was given to Vasudev for business purpose.

The Ullal Police had filed  a charge sheet in the case on October 12 this year.
