Udupi, Mar 01, 2021: "I will make a comeback, I will struggle hard to regain what I have lost. I will continue all the free services offered through my Trust," said beleaguered NRI businessman and the founder of the troubled NMC Healthcare B R Shetty.
Speaking to reporters in Udupi, Shetty said " My empire outside India might have been lost, but my assets in India are safe. I have already donated half of my property to Melinda Gates Foundation."
"I am tired of reading reports that the B R Shetty empire has drowned. But with God’s grace my financial position is not that worse. I am more financially sound than none of you might have imagined," he said.
"I am not like Neerav Modi or Vijay Mallya, I have not escaped anywhere," he said adding "Prime Minister Modi is close to me, but I have not sought his help. Even in case I meet him, this would give an opportunity to Rahul Gandhi to criticise, I have not spoken to any BJP leader," he clarified.
"I trusted some people and was cheated. As the case is subjudice I will not speak much, some vested interests have defrauded me," he said.
"Pictures of me shedding tears of joy in the past were portrayed as me crying by the media. There was a time when 84 banks had queued up to offer loan to me, but today, everyone is speaking ill about me. But I will not lose heart, will rise again," he said.
