The MP was speaking to reporters here on September 26, Saturday after visiting the Yettinahole project site and getting firsthand information on the works underway. Nalin Kumar further alleged that the works on the project were underway despite a Green Tribunal stay to the project until he next hearing on September 28. He said the interests  of people of Dakshina Kannada were completely ignored while taking up the project.

Nalin demanded that the government gave complete details about the project to the people and questioned why the government was going ahead with the project without securing environmental clearance.

“The project is being taken up  just   to misuse crores of rupees as is evident from the works taken up without obtaining necessary clearances,” Nalin alleged and demanded that another committee of experts need to be formed to  present facts pertaining to the project.

Stating that the protests against  Yettinahole can be more effective if all anti-Yettinahole activists unite, he said he would not  hesitate in taking the lead in the protests for the cause of the  people of Dakshina Kannada district.

As the state government has already applied to the Ministry of Environment seeking approval, the Centre too cannot intervene at this juncture, he opined.

BJP leaders Keshav Gowda, Sanjeeva Matandoor, Kishore Shiradi and others were present.
