Why should Savarkar be conferred Bharat Ratna, questions Ivan D’Souza

Mangaluru, Oct 20, 2019: MLC and KPCC Spokesperson  Ivan D’Souza has questioned the intentions of the BJP government behind its plans to confer Bharat Ratna on Savarkar.

Addressing press persons  at the Congress office on October 20, Sunday,   Ivan  pointed out that Savarkar had written six letters to the British  revealing his wish to surrender within two weeks of landing in jail. How can such a man be a freedom fighter ?  Why should he be given Bharat Ratna?," Ivan questioned.

Ivan said there was nothing wrong in the demand placed forth by former CM Siddaramaiah to confer Bharat Ratna on Siddaganga seer. " He deserves it, but the BJP does not want this," he added

Ivan further said the BJP was  creating  unnecessary narratives during election time just to divert attention of the people from the real issues.
