WhatsApp status led to Ullal clash : Commissioner Harsha

Mangaluru, Sep 23, 2019: City Police Commissioner Dr P S Harsha has said a total of 13 persons have been arrested in connection with the clash and firing incident in Ullal. If six persons  were arrested in connection with the firing incident, seven were arrested  for the clashes, the Commissioner said.

Speaking to media persons at his office on September 23, Monday, the Commissioner said a WhatsApp status had led to the strife.  He said a  person named Arshad had  put up a status in favour of Suhail Kandak on WhatsApp and the same was  questioned by one Salman asking why unnecessary publicity was being given to Suhail when  they too were working for the party.

Following an altercation, Suhail had opened fire which injured  Irshad following which   another team  launched an attack. A car was also damaged, the Commissioner informed.

 Police have recovered two live bullets and one used bullet from the scene of the crime.  Forensic experts have also been pressed into service, the Commissioner said.
