Supriya, 26, a BCom graduate, has been suffering from the ailment for about 10 years. After several rounds of treatments in Mangaluru and other places, Madhusudhan is pinning his hopes on doctors at Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana Super Specialty Hospital Block, Victoria Hospital. If all goes as per the plan, the LDLT will be done to save Supriya from the terminal disease soon. "It could be a birth defect. Her brother can be a donor. We’re examining the case," said Dr NS Nagesh, liver transplant surgeon, PMSSY hospital, Bengaluru.

Supriya, the daughter of Mohan and Sulochana of Mundoli House in Kutharupadavu, has been receiving help through donations, but she’s still far from Rs 35 lakh, the normal rate of the procedure in private hospitals. They’re also banking on minister of health and family welfare UT Khader. Madhusudhan told sources that Khader took them to Victoria Hospital. "We came to Victoria Hospital minister Khader offered help. He has already held a discussion with doctors here. Once all tests are done, the hospital will conduct the LDLT with me as the donor," Madhusudhan told sources.

Help poured in as soon Supriya’s situation spread through social media. WhatsApp group ’Namma Kumble’, in association with other groups ’Whatsapp Group Members’, ’Gatty Brothers Group Members’, ’Koodlu Gopalakrishna School Students’, ’Kumble Devinagara Gatty Girls’ and ’Gatty Brothers Help Malpule’, raised Rs 1.33 lakh and handed over the cheque to the family. Though organizations and individuals have extended their support, the family has spent nearly Rs 10 lakh on treatment.
