Mangaluru, Dec 9, 2016: Health Minister Ramesh Kumar has taken firm decision on the upgradation of Wenlock and Ladygoshen hospitals into a regional institute.
Addressing media at DC office on Friday December 9, Ladygoshen Hospital upgradation work is under progress with the MRPL taking the initiative under its Corporate Social Responsibilty scheme for which so far Rs 18 crores has been spent. Additional Rs 10 crores has been sanctioned to upgrade it into a multi speciality hospital which is slated to be inaugurated on March 23, 2017.
He also said that tender has been called for the restoration works of Wenlock Hospital at an estimated budget of Rs 18 crores which has been sanctioned.
The problems galore in the nursing hostel in Wenlock premises will be taken into consideration and Rs 13 lakhs has been sanctioned for the same. Necessary staff will also be recruited by December end, he added.
The Minister inaugurated Spandana, a single window kiosk where 40 services will be available under one roof. This centre will be convenient to the public in receiving and tendering applications with regard to all the 40 services.
District in Charge Minister Ramanatha Rai, Chief Whip of Legislative Council Ivan D Souza, MLA JR Lobo, Abhayachandra Jain, DC Dr KG Jagadeesha and others were present.
