Mangaluru, Mar 26, 2018: Week 21 was a unique day with, Inauguration of renovated Arise Awake Park: On successful completion of 20 weeks of cleanliness drive in the 4 th phase,a special programme was organized at Karangalpady on 25h March 2018, Sunday.

Renovated “Arise Awake Park” was inaugurated by Sri J R Lobo, MLA, Mangaluru South in the  presence of Swami Jitakamanandaji, Captain Ganesh Karnik, Prakash Salian, MCC Councilor, Prashanth Baliga of MRPL, Umanath Kotekar and a large gathering of volunteers and public.

Speaking on the occasion, Sri J R Lobo said, “This park is a proof to the fact that clean mind is the first step towards clean environment. Ramakrishna Mission Swacchata Abhiyan has been successfully instilling in the minds of public awareness about cleanliness. I congratulate each and every one who has participated in this Abhiyan. In his benedictory Address Swami Jitakamanandaji said, “We have a responsibility of keeping our city clean and garbage free. Hence each of us has to take a vow that we don’t litter everywhere. In  addition, if we can transform garbage dumping yards,  neglected spots in to parks like this, it will result in a cleaner  beautiful city.

Mayor of MCC Sri Bhaskar Moily lauded the efforts of Ramakrishna Mission in creating awareness on cleanliness among the public and assured greater cooperation and support for the abhiyan from MCC in the days ahead. Captain Ganesh Karnik delivered keynote address. Swami Ekagamyanandaji
welcomed the gathering and Sri Prakash Salian thanked the gathering.

Cleanliness Drive: After the inauguration of the park, 21 st week’s Shramadan was flagged off by Sri Bhaskar Moily, Mayor of MCC and Sri Rajaneesh Kapikad, Former deputy Mayor of MCC. Afterwards monks, and other dignitaries took up the brooms and cleaned the road sides. Vittaldas Prabhu, MUkesh Alva, Souraj Mangalore and Mohammad Shameem guided the volunteers in cleaning the  four roads. Volunteers also cleaned the road leading from the park towards Subramanya Sadana and cleaned the adjoining compound walls. Students of Nitte Physiotherapy college under Dr Dhanesh Kumar cleaned the Jail road in Karnagalpady area. Residents of Pawan Apartments cleaned the  premises and  surroundings of Animal Husbandry office. Students of St. Aloysius college went from door  to door distributing the handbills on awareness among the localites. 

Clearance of construction debris: Heaps of construction debris lying by the side of the Animal   husbandry office for the past few days was cleared by Sadeep Kodikal, Jagan Kodikal, Shivu Puttur  and others. Japanese Masahiro and  Masako Akoyi actively participated in the Abhiyan. Prabhakar Shetty, Ramesh Rao, Deviprasad Kadri, Shubhoday Alva, Ashok Subbaiah, Suresh Shetty, President  of HMS, Srikanth Rao  more than 400 volunteers actively participated in the drive. Dilraj Alva  coordinated the drive.  All the volunteers were served tiffin after the drive. MRPL is sponsoring the drive.
