Water woes : With water-level at Thumbe vented dam hitting rock bottom, the MCC has continued to supply water supply through tankers and water tanks loaded on pick up vehicles. A total of 50 tankers have started supplying water in various wards from Sunday. The removal of silt at Thumbe vented dam is in progress. The dredging of silt will ensure that the available water reaches the jack-wells. Water will be lifted from Thumbe dam on May 9, today, to supply water to the city said MCC Commissioner Dr H N Gopalakrishna.
The MCC has identified 170 sources of water in MCC limits and will drill borewells in 20 locations. The drilling of the borewells have commenced since two days and six borewells have been sunk as of now.
