Mangaluru Mar 23, 2016: CEO of Rescue NGO Abhishek Clifford has said that watching porn induces rape and also encourages man to engage in illicit activities. Several children are abducted and are sent to brothels where they are raped every day, he said.
Speaking to reporters at Press Club on Wednesday, March 23 he said that survey has been done in 25 colleges in Mangaluru by involving 470 students to know the consequences of violent porn and teen porn. As per the survey nearly 68% of degree students watch porn 7 hours per week and 28% of girls in Mangaluru city watch porn 3 hours per week, said Abhishek.
He further said watching porn videos encourages sexual activities and it is progressive and addictive. Meanwhile watching rape videos kindles a desire in an individual to actually rape someone, he added.
"When we do not want advertisements of cigarettes in TV, why is rape and child molestation allowed on the internet?," he questioned.
Rescue NGO has done survey in several districts of Karnataka such as Bengaluru, Mysuru, Bidar, Belgaum, Gadag, Chamrajnagar and Dharwad. While 64% people access porn materials by getting them downloaded directly on their mobiles, 32% access from cyber cafés and download centres. There is a need to enforce the law which forbids porn sites, said Abhishek.
Rescue will file a PIL requesting government to block all foreign porn websites which present rape videos and videos of molestation of girls, he informed.
