Walkathon -2015, against drugs, drunken driving

Udupi, Mar 9, 2015 :    According to news reports released, at least  400 students and faculty members from T.A. Pai Management Institute (TAPMI) and Manipal University and personnel from police department, participated in  ‘Walkathon – 2015’  organised to create awareness about the consequences of the consumption of drugs and tobacco products and drunken driving. The walkathon was organised by TAPMI and the district police.


Walkathon K. Annamalai, Superintendent of Police, flagged off the walkathon. The students carried placards which had messages like ‘Don’t drink and drive’, ‘Say ‘No’ to drugs’, ‘Walk a mile and spread a smile’, ‘Spare parts for humans are not as genuine as those for bikes/cars’ and ‘You booze, you cruise, you lose’.


The walkathon, which went through Tiger Circle, Syndicate Circle, Hayagreeva Nagar, Lakshmeendra Nagar, and Indrali, concluded at the MGM College.  It is hoped that a lasting awareness will result.
