He expressed confidence that Indian surfing scene will pick up and move to great levels. He said after having seen Jordan, Philippines and Taiwan that were in a similar stage of development of this sport.

WSLStephen Robertson, an official  to oversee conduct of the India Open of Surfing in a talk with media said he is impressed on the beauty of  Sasihithlu as a beach.   He said, " Surfing in this spot is just great in all aspects. The infrastructure put in place by the organisers for the event is apprecialble, I believe that the event will be a really good,"

He went on to point out that surfing is a mature sport and a life style back home in Oz. It is not uncommon to see nearly 200 surfers out at the beach as early as 5am on a normal day. Adding surfing is a category one sport in Australia. It is not far from how cricket and football are looked upon.

Surfing as a sport grows on people, youth  take to it like fish to water. There will be more youth (in India doing this sport) in future events. Estimated worldwide community of surfers count at 30 million, around 2-million are in Australia.  India and others like Philippines will swell the popularity of this sport soon.
