Mangalore, May 10, 2014: Presiding over a function connected with a training camp at his office on Saturday May 10 for counting staff; District Deputy Commissioner and Election Returning Officer A B Ibrahim, stated the vital task of Counting of votes polled in the constituency will take off at 8 AM on May 16 Friday.
The dedicated staff designated will perform their duties in a free fair and transparent manner to the best ethics for the success of the poll process. DC explained, the strong room where the EVMs are stored will be opened in the presence of the representatives of the candidates on May 16 at 7.30 am. The counting will begin at 8 am sharp. It is mandatory that the staff report at the duty point by 7.30 AM sharp.
For every Parliamentary constituency segment there will be two counting rooms, Each room will have seven counting tables and each table will have a counting supervisor and an assistant. Every room will also have an assistant election officer and an additional assistant election officer.
Every table can have one agent on behalf of the candidates, Additional DC Sadashiva Prabhu informed. The counting of 1663 postal /service ballots polled will be held in a special room in the presence of three additional assistant election officers and a gazetted superintendent. Among several officers, Special Land Acquisition Officer M L Vaishali, Assistant Commissioner Dr R Prashanth and ZP Deputy Secretary N R Umesh were also present.
The poll counting staff were trained by N K Nagendra District Statistics Department officer and Krishnamurthi, Puttur AC who underwent indepth training on vote counting at the central camp organized by Central Election Commission in Delhi earlier. There is no doubt that the public from all sections of society are eagerly awaiting this process and hope all matters will proceed smoothly for a welcome outcome.
