Vittal Malekudiya and his fatherUjire, April 30, 2015: A chargesheet was lodged in Belthangady Court against Adivasi Hakkugala Samanvaya Samithi State joint convener Vittal Malekudiya in connection with his alleged links with Maoists.

The police according to reports,  sought permission from State government to file chargesheet against him on January 15, 2015, the government gave permission to Bantwal ASP on January 23. The chargesheet was filed on January 30. The case came for hearing on April 29, Wednesday and the court issued warrant against five persons who are absconding and summons to Vittal Malekudiya and his father Linganna Malekudiya.

Condemning the incident, Advocate and CPM leader Shivakumar S M said that the previous BJP government had arrested him. After protest and criticism, he was released. Now, an effort is being made to trap Vittal Malekudiya for links with Maoists. Adivasi Hakkugala Samanvaya Samithi Convener Shekar Laila urged the government to withdraw the case against Malekudiya.
