Vittal : Chit fund operator in dock; accused of fleecing several of crores of rupees

Bantwal, Sep 3, 2016 :  Vittal Police have arrested two persons   on the charges of  abducting  a chit fund operator named Okkettur Anand alias Manjalady Anand Gowda after the latter’s wife Kishori lodged a complaint with the SP. Those arrested are  Ganesh and Rajeev. Both were arrested in Suratkal and Anand was rescued.


Chit fund It has been gathered that the duo had abducted Anand  as the latter had not returned the Rs 8 lakh which he owed to them. It is alleged that Anand   had cheated several people of  funds to the tune of nearly Rs 5 crores and that as many as 200 families had deposited their hard earned money in his chit fund.

It is said Anand who was under immense pressure from people to return their money had tried to save himself by posing as mentally disturbed man and had some time back also got himself admitted to a hospital in Mangaluru.

In another development several people who gathered in front of the Vittal Police Station on Friday urged the police to arrest Anand. Many have even lodged a complaint against Anand.

It is said that most of the transactions were authorised and that both Anand and his wife  have been arguing that they always  paid to those who approached them seeking their deposits back.
