Viral pic of liquor bottle in police station : SP clarifies

Mangaluru, Dec 30, 2017:  District  Superintendent of Police Sudheer Kumar Reddy has  issued a clarification with regard to the photo of head constable Honnappa Gowda sitting in front of a liquor bottle in the Belthangady Police station which had gone viral in social networking sites.

 

The SP has  clarified that the constable was innocent  as revealed during a preliminary enquiry. He stated that  the photo was taken on October 11 in the station itself and that Nicholas who had his birthday that day had brought the bottle to the station  when he was on way to his quarters and had kept the same on the table.

Though Nicholas took the bottle home and none in the station had consumed liquor at the station, someone had taken a photo of the liquor bottle and constable Danny who got hold of it posted it on social sites with some others.

Disciplinary action has been taken against those found guilty after enquiry, the SP said adding Honnappa Gowda and another cop Lawrence who were shown in poor light  were innocent and were free to take legal recourse against those who tried to taint their image.
