Violin camp at Kadri attracts music lovers

Mangaluru, Nov 24, 2017: A day-long violin practice camp was held at Kadri recently, which attracted many.

Violinist Kunnakudi Balamuralikrishna from Chennai inaugurated the camp and said that basic practice leads to mastery. "For accompanying artists, it is very important to synchronise their instrument with the lead artist or vocalist," he said.

Mridangam artist Kunjoor H Ravikumar said that learning art is a lifetime affair and cannot be fulfilled within a short period. Therefore, it is essential for students of music to master the art by constant practice. Basic lessons should be practiced daily. It is equally important to have devotion to the art and art teacher, he said.

Veena exponent Gopal Mudgal was the resource person. A vocal concert by Prabhat Gokhale was held as part of the camp.

The camp was conducted under the guidance of Vittal Ramamurthy, Yathiraj Acharya and Vishwas Krishna.

The camps are held every month at the residence of music lovers in the city.
