Vinayak Baliga murder: Srikant, the sixth accused arrested

Mangaluru, June 19, 2016: In a press release, the Mangaluru City police said  that they have arrested Srikant (42) of Kavoor for his alleged involvement in the murder of 51-year-old RTI activist Vinayak Baliga.   This brings to six  arrested in the case so far.


Srikant 1Vinayak Baliga was hacked to death near his house in Kodialbail on March 21.

Police have already arrested Vineet Poojary, Nishit Devadiga, Shiva alias Shivaprasad, Shailesh with regard to this case. Another person K. Manjunath Shenoy was arrested for helping the accused to abscond and is presently out on bail.

The police said special teams have been formed to trace Naresh Shenoy, Srikant and other accused persons who are reportedly absconding.   Srikant was traced by the team headed by Police Inspector Ravish Nayak in Mulky.


 The police have accused Srikant of mediating between Shenoy and the three arrested persons, who were hired for murder of Baliga.
