Presiding over a meeting held recently at his office, he emphasised on random samples in areas witnessing a surge in Covid-19 cases.

“There are directions to test 650 samples per day in the district. Fourteen teams have been entrusted with the responsibility of controlling the Covid-19 cases. If a man is tested positive and is reported in the ICMR portal, then the ambulance should visit his house and rush him to the hospital. If needed, even private hospital ambulance services can be utilised,” he added.

A bed monitoring system is being readied in the district. The system will provide details on the availability of beds in each hospital, nearest hospital and facilities available in each hospital. This will help patients from visiting various hospitals for treatment. Already, 2400 beds had been earmarked for treating the Covid-infected patients. There is a need to set up another full-fledged designated hospital for Covid-19. Nurses should be imparted special training in the management of ICU at KMC, he directed officials.

The DC said there is a need to accelerate the tracing of primary contacts of the infected persons. Through mobile call record details, the primary contacts should be traced. A minimum of 50 persons in each taluk should be deployed for the purpose, he said.

The DC warned of cancelling licences of private hospitals and clinics which fail to furnish details of those suffering from cold, fever and cough, he added.

Asha workers and health workers should visit the houses in their jurisdiction and submit a report on those suffering from cold and fever. Strict action will be initiated if a Covid-19 patient dies due to negligence. he warned.
